LETTERING
Lettering can be referred to as the act of writing, construction and designing of letters of the alphabet.
Typefaces
Typefaces are the styles of letters of the alphabet and all the other characters used to create words.
Typefaces can be divided into two groups, namely the script, the text or block.
Types of letters
1. Script letters
2. Text or block letters
1. Script letters: This style of handwriting is done freely in cursive characters. It is divided into two, serif and San serif.
(i) Italic letters: This type of letters are written leaning to the right (slanted).
(II) Old English letters: This type of lettering is complex and has ornaments with bold strokes.
2. Text or block letters: As the name implies, this type of lettering is in block letters form but could also be serif or San serif. It is also divided into two:
(i) Roman or classic letters (Serif): This type of lettering has even strokes, thin and thick strokes with ornaments. Those ornaments are referred to as Serif.
(ii) Gothic letters: This is also known as old English letters. It has no Serif, so it is San serif.
Uses of lettering
1. It is used for branding
2. It is used for advertisement
3. It is used to address prominent people
4. It is used to beautify special documents like certificates
5. It is used for design and decoration
